Our Values
Being Jesus-centered – “That we would know, experience and obey Jesus.”
The Church exists for Christ’s purposes. He is the beginning and the end. Our teaching, our practices, and our values, all need to connect with and exalt the work of Christ. (Hebrews 12:2, Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:4, 12, 16, 5:30; Colossians 1:18, 2:19)
Devotion to the Bible – “That the Bible would be our standard for truth and life.”
The Bible is the story of God and His love for mankind. The Bible is the definitive authority of our faith and practice. It functions to show us Who God is and how He wants us to see the world and live in it. Therefore, we take it as the definition of our worldview, as our guide for living and as the authority in our doctrine. (2 Timothy 3:16, Proverbs 30:5)
Dependence Upon the Holy Spirit – “That we would learn to walk in step with the Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit is our counselor, our comforter, our guide and so much more. He is the one who empowers us daily to both be and do what God has planned for us. Therefore we will exhort every believer to be filled daily with the Holy Spirit in order to live in a manner pleasing to God. (John 7:37-39; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:16; Galatians 3:1-4,12-14, 5:16, 25, Ephesians 3:16, 4:23, 5:18)
Love expressed in relationships – “That we would know one other and be known.”
Jesus said, “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." Believers are members of the Body of Christ and God desires for believers to live life together in love, unity and humility. As we do this, our lives will be transformed, and the world will see that Jesus is Lord and that He has the power to change lives. (Philippians 2:1-12, John 17:20-23)
Prayer – “That we would learn to pray continually.”
Prayer is how we talk with Jesus; it’s how we thank Him, praise Him and ask Him for help. Because He is our Lord, Savior, Friend and Brother, we need to talk with Him frequently. Jesus exemplified the urgent and frequent role that prayer should play in our lives. We need to be a people who pray! (1 Chronicles 16:11; Isaiah 55:6; Matthew 6:6; Luke 18:1; Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:8)
Every Believer a Minister – “That we would reach our full potential in Christ.”
We are meant to become like Christ in character, while discovering our gifts, talents, abilities and passions that He’s given us. Our goal is that we would “all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13 – NLT) Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 2:10
Evangelism – “That we would seek and save the lost.”
Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost. If we call Him Lord, we must be devoted to freeing those who are trapped in the power of sin as well. We will be “all things to all men” that we might save some. We will first and foremost be Jesus to others by doing for them as we would like done for us. Secondly we will communicate the grace and truth of Christ with love, compassion, and mercy. (Luke 19:10; Matt. 28:16-20)
